EXPANDING NEST AREA - Great for small colonies just starting up. Once they grow out of their initial space you can pull out the removable tab to reveal a 2nd larger area for lots of expansion room.
FULL HUMIDITY CONTROL in both nest sides via rear slide out drawer so you can re-hydrate or replace the media with ease and without disturbing your colony. (sponge media included!)
Hang on Back water supply w/sponge that is easily removable and removes the drowning risk. An extra sponge is also supplied. (this portal can also house your queen test tube prior to ant nest colonization)
EXPANDABLE - Attached portal adapter allows future expansion possibilities with 1/2" diameter tubing connections and cap so you can add additional nesting areas, habitats or just tubing tunnels! (UPDATE: We just redesigned this expansion connector. It now matches in color and is now accessible from the outside of the unit.)
LID - A newly designed lid with removable cap to allow easy feedings and cleanings without removing the whole top.
ACRYLIC - A thicker and stronger acrylic than our smaller unit that is more resistant to scratching.
5.25" square and 6" H

We are constantly upgrading and tweaking our designs as we discover new ideas to make them better. Sometimes our pictures do not reflect these slight changes but
none of them will alter the design of the nest in any major way so what you see in the pictures is still very close to what you will receive.
Also the colors may vary slightly due to a few things like camera, lighting, internet browsers, monitor display of color and sometimes our supply of materials can change shades and hues
Since all items are made to order we do not offer returns or exchanges.

No we do not include or sell ants. It is illegal in the USA to transport or ship a queen ant across state lines. Since our units are designed for a colony with a queen we are unable to offer this service. (more info on how to get one below)
While these are sometimes called ant farms there is a large difference. Most Ant Farms offer a “mail in option” for ants to purchase. These are usually Harvester Worker Ants that will die off fairly quickly and lack the “colony” aspect due to not having a Queen. While our units can also house these kinds of ants and some people get them as a “starter” option, our units offer the ability to start from a single queen ant that has just started her colony. Also our nesting areas are completely pre-formed and ready for the ants to make their home.
It is illegal to ship a Queen Ant across State lines in the USA. There are two options to acquire one. You can catch one around your yard or community during the right time of year based on the type of ant or you can locate an ant farmer within your state and purchase a ready to go colony. There is a project that was started from the people over at Ants Canada called the GAN Project (Global Ant Nursery). They have a directory listed by country and state/province.
All through the spring and summer months multiple queen ants are released from exisiting ant mounds/colonies. Start off by researching what type of ants and when these “nuptial” flights will take place in your region as it really does vary a lot from species and region. I HIGHLY suggest watching these 2 videos in order for further information:
These are excellent guides on how to catch and setup the initial home for the queen.
Currently we are requiring up to 7 days depending on our current workload.
We include access to a complete easy to follow picture guide with every order so you can have your unit setup in no time.
Sometimes the sponge can have a kink in it. Try removing and resetting the sponge a few times first. If this does not help then use the other sponge we supplied in the decoration package. If it is still leaking please contact us right away.
There is a small “pin” located in the front corner on top of the nests where they connect in the two expandable all in one units. Once you pull that pin out it exposes three holes to allow access to the 2nd side.
On the expandable stand a lone nest designs the partitions are removed and replaced with the included plugs.
They are designed this way so you can start off with a small colony in a smaller space which is more suitable. Once the colony grows and requires more room you pull the pin out. Some people will place a small pebble or twig over the top hole where the pin was removed to make it look better and not create a new entrance.
